The Nutty Baking Session

Hi everyone!
After what it seems like a long time, we're back in action! During the baking demo we attended in January, we learnt how to bake chocolate chip and macadamia cookies. The cookies we tasted at the demo were quite fragrant, so we decided to try baking those yummi-licious cookies. Hence on a rainy saturday afternoon, the nutty baking session commenced. The nuts that we used were walnut, macadamia, and almond. Wahaha.. A load full of nuts and of course chocolate chips. You may be wondering why did we use soooo many kinds of nuts... It is to make up for the lack of macadamia nuts. Oops. Now you understand the rationale behind the nutty idea. Haha. So we experimented using different nuts and see how it goes. First I'll show you guys some pictures....

The giant cookie... Wa ha ha.

The cookies are piping/sizzling hot and ready to be taken out... *muahaha... we're going to finish you off!*

Ooh la la... Don't they look cookie-licious?

This is how the cookies look before we sent them to their doom... Wahahaha...

Adding the nuts in...

The chocolate chips...

All in all, it was a learning experience for me, as I learnt that good planning is important, so as to have a smooth baking session. The chopping of the nuts took more time and effort than I thought. I was a little worried at first when I thought the mixture was a little too wet. I didn't want the cookies to end up like the giant cookie I baked years ago... The cookie mixture literally melted in the oven and formed one huge mixture and ended up as a giant cookie. Bigger than the giant cookie shown in the picture above. Ahhh but oh well! Since we're almost done except the final part of the baking session, we sent them to their doom and hoped for the best.
I let them roast for while before checking on them. I was really happy to see the mixture turning into a nice shade of brown in the oven and NOT forming into one giant cookie.. Alright man! Looks yummi-licious. After we took the cookies out of the oven, it smelled as good as it looks! I couldn't wait to try them. Hmm however, when I tasted it.... It tasted like... a cookie. Haha. I couldn't really taste the nuts, except for macadamia. It felt as if one of the nuts are overpowering the others. Yep, it's not really my cuppa tea (cookie). Nonetheless, I realized people's preferences are actually quite subjective. We let some of our friends sample the cookies, and they said it wasn't too sweet and the variety of nuts made the cookies taste flavourful. Ah well! I'm glad people do like it after all...
Thats all for my side! Valerie would be blogging as well, so keep a look out for her entry yeah!
Cookie-liously,
Louisa.
